SAP Business Warehouse (BW) on S/4HANA refers to the integration of BW capabilities directly within the SAP S/4HANA digital core, leveraging the in-memory computing power of the HANA database.
This approach utilizes the advanced features of the HANA platform while embedding BW functionalities for data modeling, real-time analytics, and streamlined reporting—all within the S/4HANA environment.
Unlike traditional BW systems that supported databases like Oracle, Microsoft SQL, IBM DB2, or Teradata, BW on S/4HANA runs exclusively on the HANA database, eliminating the need for external databases and delivering high performance, simplified data structures, and accelerated insights.
Implementing SAP BW/4HANA-specific modeling using advanced techniques such as CompositeProviders, exposing BW objects as HANA views, Operational Data Provisioning (ODP), and leveraging the LSA++ architecture within the S/4HANA landscape.
Working within SAP HANA Studio and Eclipse-based BW Modeling Tools to manage schemas, tables, and create advanced data models including Calculation Views.
Designing and supporting hybrid data scenarios that integrate BW/4HANA data models with native HANA views based on specific business requirements.
Managing BW/4HANA data objects in a distributed HANA environment, ensuring optimized data access and performance tuning.
Strong experience in integration across SAP BW/4HANA, SAP BO (BusinessObjects), and native HANA, ensuring seamless data consumption.
Exposure to SAP BusinessObjects tools such as Web Intelligence (WEBI), Lumira, and SAP Design Studio is an added advantage.
- Using the new BW/4HANA user interfaces that have been redesigned to support modelling data models and data flows, query building and administration.
- Working with new modelling approaches which lean heavily towards a virtualised data warehouse and mixing SQL based data models from native HANA.
- Using the new best practices for BW/4HANA with LSA++, instead of the old LSA.
